形容詞代名詞

（2つのうちの）どちら（の～）も～ない ⦣ 次に名詞を伴ともなえば形容詞, 単独なら代名詞.

文法　ちょっとくわしく

neither of の次には限定された複数名詞が続く. 従ってその名詞の前には the, these, my などがつく.

人称にんしょう代名詞（us, you, them）はそれ自体が限定された人[物]を示しているからそのままでよい.

Neither of us attended the meeting.

私たちのどちらもその会に出席しなかった.

I like neither picture.=I like neither of the pictures.

私はどちらの絵も好きでない.

⦣ 話し言葉では I don't like either picture. という.

打ち消しの文に続いて～も～ない

neither は常に文や節の先頭に置かれ助動詞や be動詞が主語の前に来る.

If you won't go, neither will I.

君が行かないなら私も行かない.

私はおなかがすいていない.—私も.

⦣ 「私はおなかがすいている.—私も」は I'm hungry.—So am I.

AでもなくBでもない ⦣ AとBは対等なもの（名詞と名詞, 形容詞と形容詞, 動詞と動詞など）が来る.

Neither ～が主語になる時は動詞は nor の後の語の人称・数に一致いっちするのが原則だが, 話し言葉では Neither you nor she are ～のように複数として扱あつかうこともある.
